Your Practical Test, commonly referred to as your Checkride, consists of two parts:

• An oral exam conducted before you go flying
• An in-flight test in which you demonstrate your skills in the aircraft

On the oral portion of your test you will be required to demonstrate your aviation knowledge, including subjects like regulations, aeromedical factors, aircraft systems, meteorology, and airspace. 

It is during the oral that you will be required to demonstrate your flight planning, including the performance and weight & balance under actual conditions, the effects of the weather on your flight and your navigation and flight log.

On the flight portion of the Practical Test you will be expected to demonstrate that you are truly ready to be Pilot-In-Command.
